Awalnya saya tidak terlalu suka ikan. Kesukaan saya pada ikan berawal ketika perusahaan tempat saya bekerja menugaskan saya untuk menghandle project Telkomsel dan Indosat di Area Sulawesi Tengah, yaitu di daerah Palu, Toaya, Palolo, Toboli, Kasimbar, Tada, Tinombo, Palasa, Parigi Moutong, Poso Sausu, Poso dan Tentena.Hampir setiap hari Ibu Kos saya di Tada menyajikan menu ikan. Inilah adat orang Sulawesi Tengah. Dianggap tidak makan atau nggak ada lauk jika ikan tidak tersedia. Bagi saya sayur, tempe goreng, sambel dan telur ceplok sudah cukup. Tapi Ibu kos saya melarang saya makan hanya gara-gara nggak ada ikan.
Kesukaan pada ikan ini akhirnya berlanjut saat saya menikah, karena ternyata istri saya lebih suka ikan. Saking nyidamnya untuk makan ikan saya dan istri suka beli ikan segar pada hari Minggu di Sunday Market Wellington. Waduuh...kok jauh amat dari Palu kok lompat ke Wellington.
